Bringing Babies To The Cinema

I had a movie marathon today with my buddies, Evie and Aaron. We had a little movie marathon session, watching Green Lantern and Transformers 3. It was great because I haven't had such outing in a long long time.

It was kinda crowded in the hall playing Transformers 3. But it was understandable because it is one of the greatest movie in 2011.

But I was really surprised to a few parents with little babies in the hall with us. And 3 baby strollers can be spotted at the back of the seats.

I knew a few mommy bloggers that bring their children to the cinema for cartoons like, Up, Cars, etc.

But bringing a 1-2 years old child to watch Transformers is pretty insane if you ask me. The evil looking decepticons, the fights and the countless explosions. And the surround system in the cinema is so loud, I had to cover my ears during a few scenes. I pitied the small children because if I can't take the noise, how will they be able to handle it?

This is something I found off the internet.

It is by Dr. Susanne Ayers Denham, a Developmental Psychologist.

When you decide your child is ready to go with you to a movie theater, pick your flick carefully. Definitely pass on action movies designed for teenagers or adults. For one thing, the noise level is too harsh for your child's sensitive ears. At the age of 2 or 3, what she sees is what she believes, and a scary movie can bring on nightmares. Even G-rated movies can be too much for her to handle — a movie like The Lion King, for example, has plenty of frightening scenes.

If children are able to get scared watching Lion King, can you imagine what it had been like for them when they were watching Transformers? I really really pitied them for having such parents.

The parents are either a bunch of humans with dysfunctional brain that have zero common sense or they simply don't care, as long as they get to enjoy themselves.

If you have decided that you want a child, you have to prepare to let go all the fun you had when you were not a parent. Put your child first before anything else. You brought them to this world, be responsible about it.

I have stopped watching movie, stopped hanging out with friends, stopped dating with my husband and stopped joining any blogging activities since I gave birth to my baby. And only started to take a break and have some "me-time" recently because my son is almost 3 years old and my mom is capable of taking care of him without having me around.

It is understandable that sometimes, you need to have some time out to enjoy what you like to do but try to get someone to look after your child instead of bringing them along. Get your mother or mother-in-law to take care of your child for 3-4 hours so you could have some alone time to rejuvenate yourself. Because you deserved it.

But bringing your child along to watch such "noisy" movie was really too much.
