090201 Nobody Told Me Breastfeeding Is This Hard

Today is the 17th day of my confinement. And my baby is 17 days old already..

That means I have't been showering and washing my head for the past 17 days. How do I feel? The first week was hard because I was feeling itchy all over my head. And during the night I would be sweating away like I just came back from the marathon as I'm not allowed to sleep with the fan on.

But as they say, everything needs time to get used to it. And it's right, after days of not showering, I feel normal again. My hair no longer gets itchy like before, and the nights are no longer as sweaty as before. Yay!!!!

Everything is getting better but there's one thing that I'm truly disappointed with myself.

Breastfeeding!

I was complaining that I got no milk previously. But now that I have plenty of milk, I can bring myself to fully breastfeed my baby. All the magazines and forums and websites that I've read through, everyone is saying how good breastfeeding is for the baby and mother. But no one mentioned that it's gonna be this tough!

How tough is tough?

Let say if I feed baby with milk formula, I need to feed baby once every 2-3 hours, and each feeding takes about 25-30 minutes.

Breastfeeding on the other hand, took about 30-40 minutes per feeding, once every 1-2 hours. Not only did my back ache from staying put in the same position for too long, my nipples sore too. :(

I know I sound like a bad mother but despite my patience in the beginning, in the end I gave up. don't mind sleeping for less than 5 hours every night but I totally gave up to Complete Breastfeed my baby. Haih...

But don;t get me wrong, I'm still breastfeeding him whenever he is not feeling full from drinking the milk formula. And I'm hoping that a breast pump would help make breastfeeding easier. I haven't buy one yet though. *sigh*

And before I end this post, I would like to give my RESPECT to all the mothers who had managed to complete breastfeed their babies..

R.E.S.P.E.C.T!

*Complete Breastfeeding = Only breast milk are given to the baby with no milk formula added.

i think somehow you can "collect" breast milk first, just to be safe in case you don't have the milk to produce when baby needs to consume.
you can collect milk first as well so that you won't need to stay in the same posture for a prolonged time.

i'm just giving some of my opinions, hope its useful enough! hahah!

世上只有妈妈好!
